The work will occur on the sidewalk at the southwest intersection of West Third Street and Broadway. While work is underway, a planned power outage will impact 29 mostly commercial customers near the intersection. The outage is scheduled to last from 10 p.m. Sunday until 6 a.m. Monday.

During the outage, a portion of the sidewalk on the south side of West Third Street will be closed to pedestrians. The traffic signal light at Third and Broadway will be operating on battery power and will flash red. Portions of the south side lane of West Third Street and the west side lane of Broadway near the intersection will be closed to traffic, as will adjacent parking spaces.

The new transformer and upgraded cables will add capacity to the downtown electric system while also improving reliability.

PG&E has contacted all affected customers by mail and has made in-person visits to most customers as well.
