CHICO — Students at Inspire School of Arts and Sciences who apply for PG&E’s Bright Minds Scholarships also will be eligible for a separate $1,000 scholarship only for Inspire students.

The double-incentive was announced Monday (Feb. 10) when PG&E executive manager Lia White spoke to about 60 students at Inspire, encouraging them to apply by Feb. 28 for the PG&E Bright Minds Scholarship. Winners of the scholarship will receive $20,000 a year for up to five years, with finalists receiving a one-time scholarship of $2,000.
White presented Inspire Principal Eric Nilsson with an oversized check for $1,000 for Inspire to use as a scholarship.
Chico Councilmember Randall Stone also spoke to students urging them to apply and noting how the arts and sciences were both important for his own education.
